Expanding our moral imagination is particularly important in today’s complex and interconnected world if we are to meet the challenges the future holds. From fairytales onward, stories change us and propel us imaginatively in ways that more formal ethical rules do not. What are the stories, both cosmic and personal, that help us expand our horizons?

Rev. Paula Maiorano is a retired UU community and interim minister, whose service included interim ministry with UUSD.

  • UUSD is requiring that only vaccinated individuals (who are eligible to be vaccinated against COVID) attend in-person services.
  • Please stay home and enjoy our livestream if you have a fever, any other symptoms of illness, or if it’s simply a better option for you.
  • Mask wearing is encouraged but not required.

Transgender Day of Remembrance Held at UUSD

On November 20, 2024, Sussex Pride hosted a solemn vigil at UUSD to mark Transgender Day of Remembrance. The event was co-organized by UUSD’s Social and Environmental Justice Committee. This candlelight ceremony honored the lives of transgender individuals who were tragically lost to violence over the past year.

Each of us at UUSD has a different story to tell about how we found a spiritual home here. A few of us are life-long UUs but most are not, having come from a variety of other religious backgrounds or from no particular place of faith. Whatever our journey, sharing the stories of the paths we took helps connect us to each other and to the shared journey we are now making.
