Delaware State Representative Eric Morrison has been open about his atheism and its influence on his political career. He believes that his nonreligious worldview makes him a better legislator. He practices critical thinking without relying on a religious text or prayer to inform him regarding the right thing to do. Instead, he relies on reputable studies, statistics, professionals, and listening to his constituents. He is possibly the first openly atheist individual to serve in the Delaware General Assembly. He believes that no one should be elected based simply on their religion or lack thereof. He has been outspoken both as an open atheist and an open member of the LGBTQ+ community.
