Our Share the Plate offering in January is for Rise Against Hunger. Their second annual locally sponsored event, “Feeding the 5000 Multiplied,” is hoping to package and ship 120,000 meals for communities experiencing serious levels of food insecurity. Rise Against Hunger serves last-mile communities in remote locations. Meals are provided through educational institutions to help meet basic needs while long-term food security projects take root. Their global partners provide expertise for long-term development that empowers communities following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Through locally led agriculture and income-generating programs, they bolster crop production and incomes by promoting improved agricultural methods, business skills, and market access. It all starts with a meal.
You can contribute online throughout the month on the UUSD website at Donate for Share the Plate, or you can send a check to UUSD (30486 Lewes Georgetown Highway, Lewes, DE 19958) with Share the Plate in the memo line. Contact SocialJustice@uussd.org if you need more information.
