Traces of the Trade, Film Screening
February 22 at 6p.m.
Join us for a viewing of this powerful and thought-provoking film, Traces of the Trade: A Story from the Deep North. In this feature documentary, filmmaker Katrina Browne discovers that her New England ancestors were the largest slavetrading family in U.S. history. She and nine cousins retrace the Triangle Trade and gain powerful new perspectives.
Jane Carrigan, our UUSD Guest Speaker on Sunday, Feb 23, and a UU from Annapolis, is enabling us to show this film and is a member of the national organization Coming to the Table, which brings together descendants of white slaveowners and descendants of enslaved people to talk about our shared experiences of race, racism, and the ongoing legacy of slavery in our lives.
Join us for a weekend of reflection and action: 6pm Saturday Feb 22: Traces of the Trade, film screening 10am Sunday Feb 23: Service with Guest Speaker Jane Carrigan and a discussion to follow.
