Marian Wright Edelman said, “Service is the rent we pay for being. It is the very purpose of life, and not something you do in your spare time,” and Muhammad Ali said, “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.” What are our obligations as human beings to each other and to our world? How, and why, do we carry those out? The act of living is a give-and-take; what is our “give” as we go about our lives?
