Upcoming Services and Sermons
We gather together on Sunday morning to find meaning and live more deeply. Worship creates connections within, among, and beyond us, calling us to our better selves, calling us to live with wisdom and compassion. Most of our Sunday services are led by our Minister, Rev. Heather Rion Starr. We also offer lay led services featuring members and friends who share their thoughts and life experiences.
Hybrid Sunday Service:
- UUSD is requiring that only vaccinated individuals (who are eligible to be vaccinated against COVID) attend in-person services.
- Please stay home and enjoy our livestream if you have a fever, any other symptoms of illness, or if it’s simply a better option for you.
- Mask wearing is encouraged but not required.
Enjoy our livestream service at uussd.org/livestream, starting at 9:55 a.m.
A Social Hour is held in the Gathering Area after the Sunday service.

January 2025
Sunday, January 5, 10 a.m., “Movin’ Forward!” Rev. Heather Rion Starr: It’s an old trope, but true nonetheless: Time Marches On. Throughout 2024, UUSD joyfully celebrated the 25th Anniversary Year of this congregation’s January 1999 founding. Today, we conclude this year-long celebration. We have the opportunity to appreciate all the 25th Anniversary Display Panels assembled in the Sanctuary, and we embark together on the new year and new endeavors ahead. Join us as we “Keep On Movin’ Forward!”
Sunday, January 12, 10 a.m., “To Keep or Not To Keep (It),” Rev. Heather Rion Starr: For many of us, physical stuff seems to accumulate in our lives and demands periodic culling. But why is it so hard to get rid of stuff? And how do we balance out the paradox of having too much when some people don’t have nearly enough? Is one person’s trash always another person’s treasure? Let’s sort through this stuff, as best we can, today.
Sunday, January 19, 10 a.m., “The Dream Is Not The End Goal,” Rev. Heather Rion Starr: The refrain of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s historic “I Have a Dream” speech at the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom is as familiar as the ABCs. The Dream energizes us and propels us forward to this day. But how do we work towards that lofty vision in day-to-day ways here in Sussex County?
Sunday, January 26, 10 a.m., “Samantha?!” Guest Speaker Leika Lewis (llcornw@gmail.com): This week, we have embarked together on the chancy path that stretches into the next four years. This Sunday’s service will explore knowing, unknowing, and being grownups who (still) don’t have all the answers but have learned to laugh on the journey.
