Transforming Hearts: 6-session Course
Rev. Cathy Rion Starr (they/them) and Eli Scearce (she/they) led together an energetic, 6-session Transforming Hearts course: Transgender Inclusion in Congregations.
This course, created by Rev. Mykal Slack and Zr. Alex Kapitan of the Transforming Hearts Collective has been called by some UU Ministers, “the single most transformative experience for UUs trying to become more understanding and supporting of the transgender, non-binary, and genderqueer people among us.”
We all have ways in which we are alike, and ways in which we differ from the larger groups we are a part of. How can we at UUSD and beyond more energetically invite all aspects of ourselves to show up and be seen and loved for all of who we are?

March 29, 2025 – Transforming Hearts: Transgender Inclusion in Congregation
Rev. Cathy Rion Starr (they/them) and Eli Scearce (she/they) led a group of 36 UUSD members and friends in a 6-session video, discussion, and reflection course created by Rev. Mykal Slack and Zr. Alex Kapitan (pictured on computer) of the Transforming Hearts Collective. Sessions focused on beloved community, gender, the trans experience, spirituality, and radically welcoming congregations.
