This two-session class will cover a basic introduction to Buddhist mindfulness meditation and provide the basic tools that will help deepen self-awareness and provide the foundation for mindfulness practice through seated, walking, and supine meditation positions. Using these practices, the second class will introduce metta meditation, focusing on loving kindness, which is the first of the four foundations of Buddhism — love, equanimity, joy, and compassion. A seated meditation will be held during both classes.

Rev. Sue Greer will be the class facilitator. Sue began meditating at the age of 14 guided by her grandmother. Following this beginning, she settled into Mindfulness Meditation, and from this foundation began practicing Tibetan Buddhist meditation. She has been a dedicated practitioner for over 35 years. She has led mediation classes now for over 25 years, with her teachers being: Pema Chödrön, Tensin Wangyal Rinpoche, Venerable Dhyani Ywahoo, and Marcy Vaughn.

The class is free, but a $10 donation (dana) is suggested. A maximum of 25 people will be admitted.  For more information or to register, contact the Adult Faith Exploration Committee at AdultFaithExp@uussd.org.
