Welcoming Congregation

UUSD is a Welcoming Congregation, a program that is a completely volunteer for Unitarian Universalist congregations seeking to be inclusive toward gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and questioning (GLBTQ) people.

Our Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) developed this program because GLBTQ people are often met with a disproportionate amount of fear, ignorance, or outright hostility when attempting to participate in religious communities.

We supported the Delaware Civil Union and Equality Law, effective January 1, 2012, that provides legal protections and benefits for same-sex couples.  We invite anyone, of any affiliation or background, interested in a civil union ceremony to contact our minister, Rev. D. Michael SmithWe are also supporting the legislation for all LGBTQ equality.

We are welcoming to everyone—people of different genders, races, ethnicities, ages, abilities, and sexual orientations.
