Committee Description
Awards Committee The Awards Committee coordinates the annual process for the nomination and selection of recipients for the various awards to members and others for outstanding service to the congregation and to the community.   Chair: D. R. Gray.
Auction Committee Even though the annual auction, held each spring, is a major fundraiser for our congregation, the Auction Committee puts a lot of importance on creating a fun and memorable event. This committee decides on the theme, organizes the event, gathers donations, recruits volunteers for auction tasks, creates a database of items and bidders, and publishes an Auction Catalog. We also handle the myriads of details required to make the event run smoothly, raise money for UUSD, and provide a fun evening for attendees. Typically, the Auction Committee begins meeting in early January and continues to meet regularly until after the auction. Chair: Barbara Barnette
Committee on Ministry Committees on Ministry are designed to track the heartbeat of ministry within a congregation; how the members…take care of themselves and each other, how the lay ministerial leadership serves a congregation; and how the called minister serves the congregation. It seeks to understand, assess, support, and advocate for robust ministry throughout the context of congregational life. Chair: Gabrielle Zepecki
Denominational Affairs Committee The Denominational Affairs Committee is a new committee within UUSD dedicated to assist and encourage our members and friends to expand their understanding and involvement in the denominational affairs of the broader UU world. The committee’s charge is to assure timely and efficient communications of UU events, activities, and proposals from UU organizations such as the Joseph Priestley District (JPD)  and Unitarian-Universalist Association (UUA), and to help coordinate UUSD’s action or response. The committee plans to play an active role in promoting our participation in events such as the annual District Meeting and the annual UUA General Assembly. Chair: Ron Schaeffer

Facilities Committee The Facilities Committee monitors the functioning and condition of the internal space and its appointments, and external space, used by UUSD, for the purpose of assessing and ensuring the maintenance of standards for safety, usefulness, efficiency and attractiveness established or approved by the Board of Trustees (BOT) of UUSD. The committee regularly assess the condition of the parking lot, grounds, planters, exterior of the building, chairs and other furniture, carpet, walls, appliances and utility systems for maintenance or replacement needs. It performs minor maintenance jobs as needed, for example, replacing furnace filters or light bulbs and contracts with providers of services as needed and permitted by operating budgets or BOT authorization for repairs and/or services. The Committee coordinates with other committees, for example; Lifespan Faith Development, Worship, Green Sanctuary, and Finance and with the minister in planning and executing changes to or maintenance of facilities, appointments and space. It contributes regularly to planning through the use of feedback and participation in committee and congregation wide planning efforts. Chair: Tom Evans
