Our national organization, the Unitarian Universalists Association (UUA), has a national Green Sanctuary Program for congregations to proclaim and live out their commitment to the Earth and sustainable lifestyles. In 2011, our Congegation received official recognition for completing the Green Sanctuary Program.  More information about the Program may be found  on the UUA website.

Delaware Interfaith Power and Light (DEIPL)  

We are honored to announce that in January 2012, we became the first Delaware congregation to join the newly formed Delaware Interfaith Power and Light (DEIPL). The mission of DEIPL is to mobilize a religious response to climate change by promoting renewable energy, energy efficiency,  and energy conservation to ensure a livable planet for ourselves and future generations. DEIPL was founded in 2011 as a chapter of Interfaith Power and Light,  a national non-profit organization DEIPL was founded in 2011 as a chapter of Interfaith Power and Light,  a national non-profit organization which seeks to protect the earth’s ecosystems, safeguard the health of all Creation, and ensure sufficient, sustainable energy for all. General Assembly (GA) 2012, June 20-24, Phoenix, Arizona

General Assembly (GA) is the Unitarian Universalist Association’s (UUA) annual meeting held in a different city each year. Unitarian Universalists from all congregations attend.

GA 2012 is focused on social justice issues as well as having numerous workshops and presentations, and activities on a variety of topics.  Early Registration starts March 1- April 30. For more information visit GA 2012.

UUSD Supports Delaware Civil Unions

We are a welcoming community that has long supported gay, lesbian, bisexual, and trangender people and all people regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, age, ability, and sexual orientation.  Governor Jack Markell signed Delaware’s civil union bill into law on May 11, 2011. The Civil Union and Equality Law was effective January 1, 2012, and provides legal protections and benefits for same-sex couples.  We invite anyone, of any affiliation or background, interested in a civil union ceremony to contact our minister, Rev.
